Open Wod 13.1
I thought this would be a great time to post pictures from last Saturdays open WOD 13.1 as we anticipate what 13.2 will be.
I just wanted to say what a great time was had by everyone who competed. Ive talked to so many of you who have stars in your eyes for reaching goals that you weren't sure were possible. There is something to be said for the energy, electricity and support at the open WOD that makes the impossible.... possible!
Here are some photos from Sat, hopefully it will put you all in the mindset for the weekend as we look forward to 5:00 pm when the next WOD is announced.
Good luck to everyone this weekend!

Open Time!!
Its open time and everyone who is gonna compete is sitting on pins and needles waiting for tomorrow when the first open WOD is released at 5:00 pm.
Its an exciting time!
For those of you who don't do CrossFit, the open is a chance for you to compete against every other cross fitter around the world. You get to see where you stack up against the best athletes in the world.
Its exciting and humbling at the same time. For those of you who have watched The CrossFit Games on ESPN and never done a CrossFit workout... you have no clue.....
I remember Rich and I watching The Games before we ever did CrossFit and we were like "yea, that looks hard...." We had no clue just how intense the whole thing was until we did CrossFit ourselves.
To be able to watch these amazing athletes on TV doing the same WOD's you have done yourself and they are crushing your time ....is unbelievable! You know how crushed you feel with the time you got and you cant imagine how they could of gone any faster and looked flawless doing it!
Iv been asked a few times in the last few weeks why I'm competing.... Well, most of you know how competitive I am. So that's the first reason. The second is and I just said this to Aggie last week, that last year I learned so much by being a part of the open. Every day we go to our box and do the daily WOD. We put what we think is everything we've got.... But I have to say, when you are competing in the open and you know you are posting your score on the crossfit.com website, you seem to dig a little deeper and push past what you thought was your threshold. It made me a better competitor this whole last year.
For those of you on the fence about signing up, here are a few photos from last year!!
We had a blast!

Its the little things.....
This is going to be a quick post on whats on my mind right now...
I want it... I want it bad.
Get your mind out of the gutter, I know I posted a picture of my husband..... but Im talking about
a MUSCLE UP!
Im so close I can taste it, feel it and envision it.
Tiffany you know you put a fire under my ass to get it done. For those of you strong ones out there that have a muscle up in your arsenal Im not sure you remember trying to get just one.
When you watch someone who can do them and do them well (Dan Carnahan) you wonder why you cant make it happen. I do wanna thank Dan for helping me out today. Im close.... almost there!
Im gonna get it. I know it will happen.... I just want it to happen now. Ive got the movement down, I know what I need to do. I just need to believe I can.
Ok, enough of me.
The reason I posted a picture of Rich was, Im not sure anyone knows how hard it is for someone who is 7 feet tall to do a handstand. For someone like me, or the rest of the population, we look at the wall and kick up.... no big deal right. Wrong! When you are 7 feet tall and weigh 250 (I hope you dont mind me posting your weight) you have to consider that your shoulders have to hold that weight. Not to mention kicking up a 42 inch inseam you have to consider you may fall on your head. So I just want to give my husband a shout out to getting something he worked through his progressions to get his first handstand! Like I said, Its the little things that we work on that make the big stuff happen.

Who doesn't love Chicken and Bacon!
Stop what you are doing right now and consider this for dinner.
I first made this a few months ago when Juli Bauer from PaleOMG posted this recipe that is called Easy Bacon Chicken Bowl.
Of course I had to change it up a bit so here is my version of this meal.... Which by the way has become Rich's favorite go to meal. It is pretty close to being the perfect combo of carbs, protein and fat.
Its a great recovery meal. Rich has me make a lot of it so he can take it to work or just have it to snack on in the fridge.
I will list this recipe in portions of feeding a family of four....
Here goes!
Main Meal
3 yams or sweet potatoes
1/2 lb of Bacon
3-4 lbs of chicken (6-8 breasts or lots of thighs)
Topping for Meal
Tomatos (chopped)
1 avacado (cubed)
a few chopped jalepenos if you like a little kick (or omit)
a few pinches of salt or to taste
Cook bacon
Slice sweet potatoes in half and place on a cookie sheet and bake for 20-25 mins at 400 degrees. (or until tender_
On the stove place a pan with either a little bit of coconut oil or left over bacon grease. Cook cubed chicken. I like smaller cubes.
While it is cooking salt and pepper the chicken. Cook till all the pink is gone.
Once the chicken is cooked remove any excess liquid from chicken. Place back on burner and add bacon. (you can add as little or as much bacon as you like)
Taste test for salt and pepper. I have also used McKormick seasoning and it good too.
Once the sweet potatoes are done, cube and place on a plate, top with chicken/bacon mixture and last but not least top with your tomato/avacado/jalepeno mix.
EAT UP!
Yum Yum!
